I wasn’t sure where to begin my search for qualified guitarists who specialized or had experience performing on historical guitars, so I reached out to my good friend Richard Savino of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for recommendations. Richard immediately referred two capable former students, Jon Mendle and Adrian Murillo. This eventually led to additional referrals including Carolyn Smith, Christopher Mallett, and Juri Yun. Jon and Adrian had considerable experience performing on five-course Baroque-era guitars. All five guitarists had experience playing nineteenth century instruments and all five, to my great fortune, performed magnificently.
